Cats can carry Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite shed in their poo. It poses real risks to pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems, but is easily managed: scoop the litter box daily, never flush cat waste down the toilet, wear gloves when gardening, and cook meat thoroughly. Wash hands after handling your cat if you are pregnant or immunocompromised.
